Celebrate!
Every good and perfect gift is from above,coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17 (NIV)
When we reached the end of the roller coaster that is a foster to adoption journey, we could not wait to celebrate. We invited our friends and family to the courthouse, we bought new outfits for the whole family and we planned a celebration.
We were celebrating finality. Forever. We were celebrating a gift of life, although not born from me, born for me.
We count our blessings often, but James 1:17 reminds us that every good and perfect gift is from above. Just as children born from the womb are a perfect gift from our loving Father, so are those brought to your family through adoption. God’s hand was on that child’s life from the very beginning and He has directed the path to you.
As you celebrate forever with your new children, remember that although they were not born from you, they were born for you. A gift for you from the Father of the heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows.
Today, as you tuck your precious ones in to bed, thank God for your most good and perfect gift.
