For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
From a very young age, I knew I wanted to be a mother. At that age, I wouldn’t have used the term “called”, but looking back on my life, I think it would be accurate to say I was called to be a mother.
Although I didn’t know how this calling would look as I aged, it became more apparent as I grew in my relationship with the Lord. My heart opened to the idea of foster care and adoption and God guided the path that led to my family.
I take great solace in Ephesians 2:10 and the confirmation that we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works that God prepared in advance for us. God created me to be a mother – a foster and adoptive mother – and he laid the stone of my path long before I realized where I was headed.
In my journey to motherhood, I took many detours, but ultimately, I came back to the place that God had prepared in advance. Oftentimes though, we find ourselves lost on those detours, hopeless and seeking solace in the wrong places. Satan enjoys meeting us on our detours and distracting us from the good work God has created us for. Take your GPS back from Satan and reprogram God’s path!
Whether you’re just beginning your journey, or are far in, remind yourself that you are crafted by a God who has prepared a path for you. You were built and called for a purpose!
Take a moment today to think about your journey and open your heart to the path that God has prepared for you. Revel in His handiwork as you set out to do the good work for which he has called you.
