Just Keep Walking

Disney was definitely on to something with Dory’s mantra in Finding Nemo. “Just keep swimming”, in theory, can be applied to nearly all aspects of life, but since I am not a fish, and don’t particularly like being wet, I’ve adapted the mantra.

Just keep walking in faith.

Just keep walking in faith even when the bad threatens to pull you down.

Just keep walking in faith even when you’re not entirely sure what the future holds.

Just keep walking in faith even when you have no idea where you’re going.

Just keep walking in faith.

I’ve found that it’s easy to get overwhelmed with life. It’s easy to get caught up in the possibilities of heartbreak or failure and it’s easy to become paralyzed by it all. I spend plenty of time each day actively battling the inner voices that tell me I’m not good enough, it will never work and I’m crazy for trying. I would say it’s time wasted, but I’ve come to think of it simply as time walking.

I can keep walking in faith right past those voices and lies. I can shut them down with the promises of my perfect Father and I can embrace the truth that God will reward my obedience.

Just as a Fitbit rewards you for your steps, God will reward you for walking in faith. When God urges us along a path of His desire, and we follow it, there are incredible blessings waiting for us. It’s difficult to just keep walking sometimes and the lies Satan feeds us permeate our very being, deterring us from God’s ultimate destination.

In my journey to motherhood there were many twists and turns. There was heartbreak joined with denial and anger. Our journey through foster care and adoption was not my plan and was not without stalling and stops. In my compliance to just keep walking, though, God led me to the most beautiful destination.

As a writer I’ve jumped feet, sometimes head first into the many aspects of this journey. It has not been a journey without fear, trepidation or even rejection, but it has been a journey of faith. In my compliance to just keep walking, God continues to open doors for me and I can’t wait to see the beautiful destination He has planned.

If I can look at small portions of my life and see God’s work, I can only imagine the extravagance of what’s to come. Even when he works double time, Satan’s lies can never overshadow God’s light.

Just keep walking in faith.

Just keep walking in faith even when you don’t understand.

Just keep walking in faith even when you don’t want to.

Just keep walking in faith even when it’s hard.

Just keep walking in faith.
